Orihuela
He began his studies in his hometown of Orihuela, obtaining a pension from the Provincial Council of Alicante in 1856, being very young, to study at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos in Valencia, where he had the artist, restorer and academic as his teacher. Francisco Martínez Yago, father of Martínez Cubells. Years later he got a new pension to move to Rome, where he contacted Eduardo Rosales, José Casado del Alisal and Mariano Fortuny with whom he established close friendly and artistic ties and whose style would profoundly influence Agrasot's painting. His miserable desire for childhood triumph led him to send works to the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, where he did not obtain important successes. Until 1875 he remained in Italy, returning to Spain after the death of his good friend Fortuny. He achieved a well-deserved prestige that led him to be a member of the Academy of San Carlos and the Royal Academy of San Fernando, participating as a member of the jury in several exhibitions. His death occurred in the city of Valencia on January 8, 1919. Currently, the Prado Museum preserves two works by the painter Oriolano in its collection. Likewise, the Carmen Thyssen Museum in the city of Malaga and the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia have paintings by Agrasot in their collections. Special mention should be made of the Senate Palace of Spain, which houses the painting “Death of the Marquis of Duero”, and the Pedrera Martínez Collection, which contains more than eighty paintings by the 19th century master.
