We are facing a tableautin of the many that Agrasot painted as a way of survival, but without too many concessions to the gallery, invariably applying a natural intra-historical sincerity in his paintings, transmitting to us a precise moment that is most common in the lives of these traveling soldiers of fortune. from one place to another; the horses at the watering trough, the swordsmen replenishing their strength and two Castilian farmers who serve them refreshment. All within a naturalness whose take from the canvas could not be more folksy. In this little painting there is a curious coexistence of very Agrasotian characters such as the peasant women, but the musketeers also appear again, so much to the taste of the social taste adept at adventure and serial novels. Illustrations that were used as a visual attraction to accompany, documenting with images, the literary texts in magazines with broad themes and circulations, such as The Artistic Illustration, in which Joaquín Agrasot also worked.
