The dedication can be read: “To my wife. On the 22nd anniversary of our marriage.” The painter adored his wife, Emma Zaragoza, whom he married in 1872 in Alicante, with the thirty-year-old Agrasot still having an uncertain future, and she being the daughter of a prosperous merchant from Elche living in the capital. The photographs, or reading the texts of the various biographies that were made about the Oriolano artist, are enough to assume the enormous love that both professed for each other. Possibly the painting of “Casacones” was one of Emma's favorites, apart from the gallant theme, its artistic meticulousness, and obviously, in that pragmatic sense that artists almost never have, for the daily profitability for the family. Illustrating fans was a gift that painters kept for their most loved (female) loved ones, which gave them an added sentimental value of love and complicity. For this reason, this piece is kept by the heirs of Agrasot with great affection that goes beyond the admiration they logically feel for the person who gave so much luster to his family name.
