It was around 8 a.m. and I was taking my children to school when I could see a sky that instantly seduced me. Our dog “Bruno” was with us and I thought that as soon as my children got out of the car, I could go with him to Las Arenas beach and see that spectacle from a place where it could be better appreciated. The sun was high but the clouds half hid it and the sky was reflected on the shore, dim due to the density of the cumulus clouds. The lifeguard's lookout, which he had initially dismissed, began to catch my attention and I began to think about how to introduce it into the scene. I took horizontal and vertical photographs, until I chose the verticality that the surveillance structure already offered. The clouds, the sea, in constant movement. I saw a runner in the distance who broke the weight of the loneliness of the scene. I waited for him to pass by and leave his “mark.” I realized how important a presence he can have, even if it were seemingly insignificant. And I introduced it into the composition almost like a silhouette. Working from a matte black primer with a white industrial marker that is reminiscent of the chalk drawing on the blackboard and then starting to glaze with yellows, ochers and blues... is a process that is enjoyed at all times. Each part leaves its mark until the end. Here, with the finished work, you can see the starting black, the texture left by the industrial marker and logically the added color.
